Chapter Two
It is time for me to get out of this horrible place. My plan, it is fool proof. All I need to do is use my telekinesis to move the gears in the door to open it, then I will run out of the room and if anyone tries to stop me I use my telekinesis to lift them up and throw them behind me. If they try to shoot me, I can stop the bullet; easier said than done. After four years, that’s all I could come up with?
I looked over at the door and closed my eyes. I focused on the locks on the door and hear four clicks, the door opened slightly. I ran to the door, opened it and make a break for freedom. I ran as fast as I could. I saw a man in a long white coat, reading the newspaper and drinking coffee. I shoved past him. His coffee spilled on his white coat and he dropped the newspaper. I grabbed the paper and continued running before he even knew what hit him. Oddly, there weren’t very many people around. I ran through a few doors, and then I saw a door that said `Exit’. I pushed open the door and an alarm sounded. I ignored the alarm and kept running. I glanced behind me and saw that no one was chasing me, the alarm was off now too. I climbed over the wire fence, the electric was off. This is weird. Why isn’t anyone trying to get me back? They should have noticed that I’m gone by now. Oh well, I should be glad that they aren’t chasing me, but I can’t help feeling that something isn’t right. I jumped down from the fence and ran to the city.
I need to get out of this stupid hospital dress. People would probably try to send me back if they saw me in this outfit. I could tell by where the sun was that it was very early in the morning, so there weren’t very many people out. I ran down the closet alley way to find some place to rest and hide. In the alley way I found a large box, it would be good shelter for now. I decided to look through the trash cans to see if I could find some old clothes or other materials I might need. In one of the cans I found a long, dirty, torn, coat. Just my size, but it is so gross. It will have to do for now, though. I put the coat on and tied the strings around my waste. Then, I sat the box on its side and crawled in. Now what? I have no money, no food, and no idea where I am. What will I do now? I heard sirens in the distances and loud thunder. Are they coming after me?
I remembered the newspaper I had gotten from the man back at the happy hotel. I opened the paper up, it was torn and crumbled from the run here. The date was November 29 and the headliner was about the presidential election. Boring. On the second page it had a picture of a house on fire. The article said that the house suddenly caught fire in the middle of the night. The police could find no trace of gasoline or any other substance that would suggest arson. Odd...I had a dream about a building burning down last night. I kept reading on.”The residents, Roude and Mya Mounda were both killed in the fire.” My eyes widened and I dropped the paper. Those were my parents’ names.
